The holiday season can bring both joy and unique challenges for families caring for a loved one with dementia. Join The Kensington for an educational and supportive discussion designed to help caregivers navigate this special time with greater ease, compassion, and connection.

During this session, we’ll explore:

Our goal is to help you feel more confident and supported as you approach the holidays—equipped with tools to strengthen your connection and make the season brighter for your loved one and your family.

Meet Our Speakers:

Shanah Hawk, Program Manager at PVI Adult Day Services, has worked at Peninsula Volunteers Inc for 13 years, in various positions, starting her work as part of the activity team. She has a passion for working with individuals living with dementia and their families/caregivers. She is a Best Friends Master Trainer and committed to sharing the importance of dignity in dementia care and compassionate communication. Shanah holds a BA in Family Community Services from Michigan State University.

Leandra Sims, PAC-Certified Mentor & Kensington PAC Support Specialist, has over 15 years of senior living experience. She is a champion of PAC training and generously shares her knowledge, laughter and love with residents, their caregivers, and families. She can’t wait to welcome you for this special training!

April Vargas, PAC-Certified Champion & Executive Director of Kensington Place, has worked in the senior living industry for over twelve years. She uses her prior experience as a Medical Technician, Assistant Administrator, Mental Health Worker and Memory Care Activities Coordinator to develop innovative, person-centered programming with a goal of engaging residents, fostering their sense of purpose and bringing joy through each activity. 

Kristopher Hong, Certified Neurologic Music Therapist and our Connections Memory Care Manager at Kensington Place. He completed his Music Therapy Internship with Mobile Music Therapy of Orange County. There, he provided services to gerontological day facilities, and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Before earning board certification, he became certified in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT), an evidence-based approach using music to enhance speech, movement, and cognition.
