Your first few weeks in a new role set the tone for your future—and at Kensington Place Redwood City, we want every new hire to feel welcomed, confident, and prepared. Here’s what your first 90 days might look like on our team.
Day 1: A Warm Welcome
You’ll be greeted by your department manager and buddy team member, receive a tour of the community, and get an overview of our mission, neighborhoods (Connections and Haven), and the Kensington Place Promise.
Expect:
- Team introductions
- Your personalized training plan
- Lunch with a Kensington Place ambassador
Week 1: Learning the Ropes
You’ll shadow experienced team members while getting familiar with:
- Resident care routines and preferences
- Community safety and communication protocols
- The culture of compassion and excellence that defines our care
By the end of the week, most new team members feel fully integrated into daily routines.
Weeks 2–4: Growing Confidence
You’ll start taking on more responsibility while receiving regular feedback and support. You’ll also attend:
- Job-specific workshops (e.g., dementia communication, safe mobility assistance)
- Optional Teepa Snow PAC certification if you’re in memory care
We check in often to make sure you feel equipped and encouraged.
Month 2: Building Relationships
As your confidence grows, so does your connection to our residents and team. You may:
- Get involved in enrichment programming
- Suggest a cultural tradition or resident engagement idea
- Explore cross-training opportunities
You’re not just learning a job—you’re becoming part of a family.
Month 3: Looking Ahead
At 60 and 90 days, we schedule official check-ins to:
- Celebrate your contributions
- Identify goals and training paths
- Share your experience to help refine onboarding for others
We also invite you to join our mentorship or employee spotlight programs.
