Fall Message

Construction crews are full steam ahead as Redwood City’s newest Assisted Living community nears completion. Designed specifically to care for those with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, this exceptional project has been years in the making and will soon be home to nearly 60 residents. Innovation abounds at Kensington Place. The community public spaces, with skylights, large glass windows and doors opening to outdoor space, have been specifically designed to improve each resident’s use of the outdoors, boost Vitamin D, and improve natural circadian rhythms. The Sentry® system quietly monitors care needs like habits, anxiety and continence while preserving privacy. The chef will create vibrant, delicious meals in front of residents on under-counter induction cook tops – while the counter safely remains cool to residents’ touches. Furniture placement, colors, artwork, and even landscaping throughout the community are designed explicitly to ease mobility, visibility, mood and engagement. Every space feels like a warm, beautiful home.

We are very excited about the many partnerships and team members who are helping Kensington Place usher in a new era in Assisted Living specifically designed for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Together, the leadership team has over a century of fostering exemplary senior care. They each have been part of educating and mentoring our team members specially chosen for their compassion, resilience, and can-do attitudes. Each director worked to cover everything including correct hand washing procedures, proper greetings, appropriate bathing techniques, individualized therapies and much more. It was amazing to see the team come together to create an ground-breaking training program – one of the BEST trainings I have been part of in my 25 year career! I could not be more proud of the team we have chosen.

Kensington Place, specializing in caring for those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, is scheduled to move first residents in November. We will be hosting a couple intimate get-to-know-you events this month. Call Shelly at 650-366-9200 to be added to the guest list.

Stay well.

John Graham, Executive Director
