At Kensington Place Redwood City, memory care isn’t one-size-fits-all. We recognize the unique needs of each resident and match them with the care, attention, and engagement appropriate to their stage of cognitive change.

For those looking to begin or deepen a career in memory care, our Connections and Haven neighborhoods offer a profoundly meaningful path.

Whether you’re just starting in senior care or have experience supporting those with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, memory care jobs in senior living at Kensington Place Redwood City invite you to join a mission-driven community where every role contributes to something bigger.

Our Promise is to love and care for your family as we do our own.

Understanding Our Specialized Memory Care Neighborhoods

Memory care at Kensington Place Redwood City is thoughtfully structured into two neighborhoods:

  • Connections supports residents in the middle stages of dementia. Here, team members provide direction, reassurance, and programming that promotes familiarity and connection.
  • Haven offers enhanced care for residents in the late stages, emphasizing sensory comfort, gentle guidance, and personalized presence.

Each neighborhood is purposefully designed for the cognitive needs of the residents it serves.

And each role within these neighborhoods, whether caregiver, med tech, or life enrichment professional, plays an essential part in maintaining dignity, reducing anxiety, and fostering peace of mind.

Certifications and Qualifications: What You’ll Need

To work in memory care at Kensington Place Redwood City, the following credentials may be required, depending on the role:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA): Often required for direct care roles; must be licensed in California.
  • Home Health Aide (HHA): Accepted for some care roles depending on training and experience.
  • Medication Technician (Med Tech): Requires state-approved medication administration training.
  • Memory care-specific training: Team members in Connections and Haven receive dementia-care education as part of their onboarding, and ongoing training ensures continued growth.

Our team members are encouraged to pursue advanced certifications. We offer support in obtaining credentials such as dementia care certifications, Teepa Snow Positive Approach to Care® training, and more.

This commitment not only enhances the quality of care but also empowers each individual to grow professionally.

A Day in the Life: Connections Neighborhood

In Connections, caregivers begin the day by assisting residents with morning routines, offering just the right level of support while encouraging independence. A structured schedule follows, filled with:

  • Familiar life-enrichment activities, like music, crafts, or gardening
  • Cognitive stimulation through puzzles, storytelling, or interactive games
  • Small-group dining experiences that feel like family meals
  • One-on-one walks or chats to soothe moments of disorientation

Connections is about helping residents maintain a sense of identity and rhythm. Team members learn each person’s history, preferences, and patterns to support continuity of self. Your work here is hands-on, heart-led, and deeply appreciated.

A Day in the Life: Haven Neighborhood

In Haven, caregivers focus on ensuring comfort, calm, and dignity for residents living with advanced cognitive decline. Daily responsibilities include:

  • Gentle morning assistance with bathing, grooming, and dressing
  • Offering soft music or sensory tools to create a peaceful environment
  • Supporting modified activities tailored to each resident’s abilities
  • Providing a consistent presence during meals, transitions, and rest

Communication in Haven often takes the form of presence, tone, and touch. Team members are trained to interpret nonverbal cues and respond with patience and care.

For those drawn to slower-paced, relationship-focused caregiving, Haven offers some of the most rewarding opportunities in senior living.
